Advanced Image 3.1 Features
Â
For images:
Â
- Dynamic Image Resizing! ÂNo matter what the size of your image, the image will be dynamically resized to the dimensions of your choice.ÂJust specify either the height or width and Advanced Image will take care of the rest.ÂThis is true resizing, not simply squeezing the image into a smaller space as many applications do.
- Faster Page Loads! Â Â ÂThe image is truly resized.ÂWhen a typical image control reduces the size of an image, it simply squeezes it onto a smaller space.ÂThe size of the image delivered to the browser remains the same.ÂAdvanced Image resizes the image so that only the size image required remains the same.
- Display Full Sized Image on Click! Â ÂNo thumbnails required!ÂLet Advanced Image do the work.ÂSelect the image; select the size to display on the page; Click the image and the full sized image will be displayed.ÂYou have the option to display the image either in the page that the visitor is viewing or to open a new window.
- Disable the click on image feature! Â ÂNow you can disable the click on image feature.ÂJust display the resized image.
- Resize images on upload! Â Â Â Â ÂOur image upload feature allows you to resize your image as you upload it; saving time and disk space.
- Rename images on upload!  ÂChange the name of the image at the same time that you upload it.ÂThis is especially handy when the image name contains characters that DotNetNuke won’t allow.
- Multi-Image Displays! ÂAdd as many images as you want to the module.
- Expanded Image Types! - Advanced Image supports jpg, jpeg, jpe, gif, bmp, png extensions.ÂNote:ÂResizing is not supported for gif’s.ÂResizing gif images frequently results in poor image quality.
- Add Titles! -Â Titles give an image an identity.ÂThe title area has been expanded to allow for HTML formatting of the title.
- Create Orderly Displays! - Flexible view order allows the creation of orderly displays.ÂYou may use numeric values (I.E. 1 – 10) or alphabetical ordering (I.E. a –z).
- Automatic Image alt. creation! - Whenever you select an image in the editor, an image alt. tag is added with the image name. You have the option to modify the alt. text or to remove it.
For Text:
Â
- Add Descriptions! -Each image may have its own formatted text description using the Text/HTML editor.
- Add text only blocks! - Prior versions of Advanced Image required an image before you could enter text.ÂNow you can add text only sections.ÂStart the page with formatted next, not a picture.ÂCreate more professional pages.
- Control the width of the text! -Prior versions of Advanced Image tied the width of the text blocks to the width of the image.ÂNow you may set the text width independently or let Advanced Image do it for you.
- Side by side text! -Don’t like the hassle of using tables in a text editor?ÂSimply create columns of text with Advanced Image.Â
Display Settings:
          Â
A Display Settings page provides the means to set display properties for the module. This may provide additional uniformity as these settings global in nature and override the settings for individual images and text blocks.Â
Display Orientation - Select either horizontal or vertical display for multiple images or text blocks.Â
Columns - You may set the number of columns that will be created before another row is started.
Global Image Resizing - No need to individually resize images. Set it once and all images are resized to the same setting. Options allow you to select from a list of common image dimensions or enter your own custom image size.
Custom Image Resizing Options - Set the maximum image size by specifying the maximum height or width of the image. Are you more concerned with the maximum size of the image than with uniformity? You can specify the maximum size of any side of the image, Advanced Image does the rest.
Text Width - Set the width of the text on the page to a fixed value and all text blocks will have a uniform width. Set it to Auto and the text width settings default to the individual image/text editor settings.Â
Default Text Width - This is the text width value that is used when there are no determining values to set text width. It's not hard coded. you may set default text width to the value that you desire.
Image Preview Size – The size of the image preview feature in the editor may be set to suite you.
Display Description – Turn on off on the text.
Editor:
- Default Settings – All properties now have default settings. Select an image or select text only and it is ready to click update.
- New Display Settings Section – Expand the ‘Display Settings’ section head and you can view a summary of all of the global settings for the module. No more going back and forth to ‘Settings’.
- Global Settings Input – If a property is set in ‘Display Settings’, the local property in the editor shows the calculated value. I.E. If text width is set to 300px in ‘Display Settings’, the text width value in the editor will reflect that value and the ‘Text Width’ settings options will be grayed out. Resizing values will also be filled in if global image resizing has been set.
- Section Headers – Major sections of the editor now have expanding section headers. Just expand the section that you want to change. No more long scroll bars.
- Expanded Title – Title section has been expanded to accept HTML and text. Helpful if you wish to use the title to give credit for am image or other special use.Â
- Text Width – Added the ability to set the text width properties.
- Image Alt. – The image alt. field is now automatically filled in when an image is selected. You may give it a custom value if you choose.
- Update Text Editor Width – If you modify the image size or text width, click and the Text/HTML editor width will change to reflect the new width.
- Image Preview – The image preview feature simplifies image selection by displaying the image selected. The full image size values are displayed below the image preview. The size of the image preview may be changed in ‘Display Settings’. If an image is smaller than the preview size, it will be displayed full sized. GIF’s are no longer resized in the preview.
